A day to be thankful.

Today we started reading the Magic Tree House book:  Thanksgiving on Thursday by Mary Pope Osborne.
We made a bubble map about Thanksgiving, and talked about why we celebrate it.

Did you know that in 1621 the Pilgrims and Indians had a three day feast to celebrate the harvest.  And in 1863, President Lincoln made it so that the last Thursday of November we be a day of thanksgiving.

Our class started talking about things that we are thankful for and here is what they said:

Oh'  on our heads are our drum stick hats for our Thanksgiving Feast at school today.

 I am thankful for food.
I am so thankful because we have God and Jesus and we have food and friends and people care for us, and grandpas and grandmas and cats and dogs, and classmates and books and games and teachers.
I am thankful for my mom.
I am thankful for friendship and we can  be helpful to other people and we can be careful of other people.
I am thankful for all the people and my sticker color.  I am thankful for people that got invited to a sleep over.  And for my grandma and grandpa and for my friends and for my cats and my dog and my cousins and I hope that people aren't jealous and are not mean to me.
I am thankful for lemon pie and apple pie and turkeys.  I am thankful for Thanksgiving.  I am thankful for November.
I am thankful to have lots of friends with me.  I am also thankful to have a mom and a dad.  And I am thankful to have a teacher.
I am thankful for Thanksgiving.  And I am thankful for people.
I am thankful for the army, holidays, and for a family dinner to be with my family, and turkey.
I am thankful for getting with our families, cousins and my grandpa and grandma.
I am thankful for God, and the Army, and the seasons.
I am thankful for my mom and my dad.  To have food and blankets and stuffed animals.
I am thankful for Jack Sparrow.
I am thankful for having Tosh to make a paper airplane, and for helping my mom.

I am thankful for deer hunting.

I am thankful for seeing all of my loving first graders faces every morning, I am thankful that they are hard workers and are eager to learn.  I am thankful that I have the opportunity to be a part of their lives.  I am thankful that we are ALL  ROCK STARS!   ----Ms. Littler
